A doula does not replace the roll of a birth partner(s). A doula supports family being as hands on or off as needed during labor. She will provide/share comfort techniques and offer suggestions to birth partner so that they can be as hands on during the process as one wishes to be.
My goal as your doula is to support the birth process by providing emotional and physical support throughout labor to the level of comfort for each individual and couples preferences. We discus all boundaries and wishes during prenatal visits and when going over the birth preferences prior to the onset of labor. Together as a team the birthing couple decides how I can best support the birthing process. We are in this together.
My wish for all mothers is that their birth space be safe, that they feel honored and their wishes for their labor experience be respected.
I hold the sacred space that is the birth room weather it be home birth, birth center birth or hospital birth. I help my clients come up with a birth plan that's special and specific to their individual needs and desires. I share all possible interventions and the evidence bases pros and cons to each option so that those working with me know they have choice in what happens to them while they enter the sacred space that comes when veils are lifted when a person brings life into the world.
